In 1987 the words I’m about to read became real for me.
Mum and dad had taken us to church as children and that was to be the foundation of my life. To which I want to thank them.
Yet in 1987 I heard these words spoken and the person reading them asked me if I knew I was going to heaven. I thought I was but wasn’t sure.
The great news was that Jesus said there was much room for all. There was hope for all. This life was not just this life but here was something eternal. Something eternal that could make a difference now forever. It transformed my life.
Reading John 14 1- 6 Jesus Comforts His Disciples 1"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going." 5 Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" 6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Don’t wonder about the future please. Today trust in God and know your future.
Things i remember about my mum. Mum loved Neil Diamond esp. Jazz singer we loved to watch and sing.. Mum loved the musicals and if we had one on tv we had to sing along. Mums fridge was always full. We aren’t the tucks for no reason! Mum made the best toad in the hole (got me in trouble when I got married and said my mums was better than k’s), bubble and squeak. Mum was there when I discovered I was going to Vaughan school and I remember her telling me. Mum was great for a cuddle on the sofa. Mum loved to have a laugh and knew what it was to laugh. Never worried about things she was adventurous and was willing to give things a go. She loved her guides, brownies. Mum was caring and loving in all times. Perhaps the soft one I could go to if i needed something or I’d been told off. Mum loved her grandchildren and was with them all soon after they were born and was willing to drive down to us. Mum was generous with her time with people, if you spent time with my mum you know you’d been in good company. She was interested in you. Generous with her money even in the hospice wanting to give the kids something. The week after Easter we had a brilliant week with mum and the kids. They were worried but when they saw mum was ill but ok they loved being with her. We loved going out to the park with her. Dan messing on the wheel chair, Bex with her dog that grew with water and Beth reminding us to get things for her. Mum never complained about her suffering and got on with life and lived it. Mum came on numerous Youth Camps I did from England to Northern Ireland. Something brilliant about being able to work alongside your mum. Oh and mums signature was the easiest in the whole world to copy !!! Whoo hoo.
Will miss you but remember.x
