Saturday, December 31

ok last post of 2005 and i guess i cant believe we are actually through nearly another decade (not just a year)!

tonight im djing at the Sadlers Arms if you want to pop along and party with us til 1 am. Looking forward to it. Although i have to work first on the buses!

i was debating on doing a review of the year. but im not going to. but i would like to quote from the queen!

"For Christians this festival of Christmas is the time to remember the birth of the one we call the 'prince of peace' and our source of 'light and life' in both good times and bad.

It is not always easy to accept his teaching, but I have no doubt that the new year will be all the better if we do but try.

I hope you will all have a very happy Christmas this year and that you go into the new year with renewed hope and confidence"

may your new year be filled with the knowledge from the one who knows your very future and the path on which to take.

May the Love of Christ be with you forever.

Tuesday, December 27

phew. back at salisbury road. I am hoping before the big christmas snow rush. The last few days have been great, exciting and yet somewhat difficult.

Christmas Eve the kids are on a high. Ok i was very excited as well. Although you kinda worry if the presents you've bought are the right ones. Midnight comes and goes and i hope off to bed.

all night im tossing and turning thinking the kids are going to get up and jump on me. so i pray. this helps me sleep. prayed for katy and her family. the next thing i remembered i was being jumped on as santa has been.

so 630am im in the kids bedroom and we are opening the stockings. my brother had brought these for the kids. although i think stockings with bells on them should be banned. come on at midnight ive tried to take them out of the room and fill them and then returned them without making a sound!!! bells hmm.

by 7 we jump on uncle mark!!! he was soooo pleased.

7.01 we go in to grandma and grandad. then we all retreat to the kids bedroom. yeah. showing the stocking fillers.

7.15 we are drinking tea/coffee and reading 'Magicians Nephew'. All week we've read a chapter a day esp after watching 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe'. the book that explains Narnia and its beginning. My kids are absorbed.

8 we eat breakfast and then actually last until about 9.30 before we start to open presents.

paper flies around the room as we watch each person open 1 present at a time.

surperb presents all round i say. got two hampers of food! plus a whole load of stuff like Spudtator! its the follow up to Dafttator. Both characters from StarWars but done Potato head style.

lunch is the full on turkey etc.

we then go for a nice afternon walk to feed the ducks and wear ourselves out. getting back my sister and brother in law turn up. more presents.

then a game of bingo. whoo hoo. sadly my mums bought the set from poundland. well we all know they do things on a budget. so when they only have 62 numbers (normally its 90) nobody wins. lol. so after a cuffuffal we find 18 more numbers and away we go. every one wins but me... :(

the time is 715 and i said to the kids. doctor who is on at 730. i was wrong. very wrong we'd missed 15 mins of it. how wrong is that. so we then watched the rest. My opinion is FANTASTIC. funny and yet we see a dark side. Then 6 words to bring down a government "dont you think she look tired!?" very clever if not very policital.

then tea at 8.30! we then ship the kids off to bed. a game of cards turned into one of those 'i think every one is tired' games. So a few storms and then all settles.

Been a tough christmas day. Next year probably will be harder.

Boxing day was all about packing up and then saying goodbye. then saying hello to the lippiatts.

said goodbye to the kids and goodnight. things had got tough and needed to go.

spoke to katy on the phone and got back to exmouth.

phew. and now im sitting on tuesday having watch some tv and enjoyed the company of the naish's and tiffanies and (cant remember heather and guys surname)..

about to watch doctor who again. well at least the first 10 mins lol.

Saturday, December 24

so my belly has a chuckle all ready. i've tried to get the beard to grow but its not done too well. but sadly my costume has not arrived back from the dry cleaners in time. lol. I cant believe its Christmas Eve. My kids are hanging off the ceiling with pure excitment and are now in bed. asleep maybe not.

im watching on tv charlie and the chocolate factory (well tcm) with my mum, dad and mark. Anne and Mark (her husband) came round and so its been good to see them all. This Christmas has been good so far. Mind you ive tried to keep busy. The kids sent a christmas message by multimedia text.

the last of the presents have been wrapped and bless her my mum has already cooked the turkey instead of getting up at 5 am. lol.

a can of fosters cuddles my hand as i await the chinese my dad has ordered. and so to rest.

You can still win chocolate on my advent calender. Im not going to update now until tuesday.

Have a great day. Dont miss out on Christ in _ _ _ _ _ mas.

Take care.

Friday, December 23

so according to my kids today is christmas eve eve! which i think should change the national scene on names. not that im wishing life away but i want it to be christmas tomorrow but i hope thats for the right reasons!! although presents would be nice!

played many games of battleships this week. ok so becky won this morning but the concept of how to play is quite confusing. so you have 2 boards and 2 grids. and you are supposed to look at one grid and then the other grid. for an eight year old.. she did well. so as i said i lost. not that im bitter.

so today visited the iron bridge and went for a walk. this has carefully worn the kids out and so we lie on the sofa watching a movie. whoo hoo.

an apology again to katy for spelling her name wrong. some of the times i write this things my brain is obvisouly not in gear!

ho hum

only 1 more day to go....

Wednesday, December 21

Oh yes it was

Yes is was a panto. Arriving at 6 p.m. with tickets in hand, sweets in the other and coats still wrapped tightly to our bodies. Finding our seats at the back of the theatre and the music started. On comes the fairy (a rather larger than life cockney speaking - ok we were in london) and to her left King Rat (guess who its Chris Rankin.ok i asked that question but apparently its Percy Weasley from Harry Potter. Ok not being a massive Potter Fan I've had to look at all the websites for this information. lol. Then behind a very clever see through screen we meet Dick Whittington (oh course its Sam Kratz or truely Richard Grieve. Singing "Don't Stop Me Now" that well known Queen song. OK so it was the opening number but a little too high. We work our way through Dick on the way to London. Meet the Dame who is definately 'appie (a good panto gag), Idle Jack (man this guy can blow a balloon) and finally Fitzwarren and Captain Cockles.
A mixture of singing, dancing and laughs. My kids are shouting at the right moments 'boo', 'hiss' and 'hello kitty'. Then after Dick being caught for stealing chucked out and sent back home. He finally hears the bells of london and we enter into a dream sequence of Dick becoming Mayor.

The first half over no notorious acting but then it moved quickly and an hour passed without thought.

With this in mind the second half started with real hope... Dick gets back in with the family and they sail off to sea. King Rat sinks the ship and we then get a fantastic underwater sequnce. This by far was the best. truely well thought through. Into Morroco and the cat rids the Saltan of the Rats. Whoo hoo. Trip home sees us back in london and indeed Dick marries Alice. And its all happy ever after.

Ok until we get the line "Looks like Alice got her Dick". ok ive never heard an audience gasp. but they did. the line fell like a brick.

ah.

a good ole night out. the truth is my kids loved it and so did i. ok some of it was a dodgey as dodgey but isnt that panto?

Friday, December 16

ok another favorite annoying song.. apart from the ebay one!! is taken from i love eggs its catching and lovely and heck im eating an egg right now!!

maybe not well only because its not lunchtime.

to complete wednesday...

i had a very lovely lunch with ali. wow she reads my blog. i mentioned something and she then completed the story!!! (no im greatful!) plus i reckon she is on to win the chocolate and at the moment she could be (ok she is) winning the advent competition!!.

also maybe having 2 shandys at lunchtime wasnt such a good idea..

anyhow..

then wednesday night popped down to torquay to see katy (who is on swym) and i met her hosts. now roger is a star. he has worked with the beatles, gerry and the pacemakers AND been on holiday with Ringo Star. wow he is my hero. his house (ok bunglaow) is huge. one room has a full size snooker table in it! With room to also walk around the table with your cue NOT touching the walls. AND in this room sheliah (his wife) has a massage table up. All the rooms in the house are like this. infact the bathroom is twice the size of my bedroom. but although he has all of this he is soo down to earth.

thursday i spent the morning reflecting over the last year.

this year for all of those who know me hasnt been easy. ok it was brought on by me but that aside its the working through it. God has always been there for me and hand on heart why should i have given up on him when hes never let me down. in fact more than that he has restored and started and continued to heal me. so praise him. bit more to go but then again who can say they are perfect...

i guess the clue is to be open.

so the morning was a good one although tearful and banging my head against the bathroom wall!

thursday afternoon off i went to bristol to support dave by djing for him at the youth cub disco.

stayed the night and saw the lovey Katie Swanson. (more katies!!)

Today is friday and im just back from bristol and going to Cafe Uno (although im running late!) to see Lauren. a previous winner of the big brother competition and a local teacher. should be fun.

disco tonight til 1 am !! whoo hoo.

then sleep me thinks.

It's actually not a massage table - she does sugaring peoples legs.

And you spelt my name wrong AGAIN! How many times do I have to mention that?!

Katy

P.S. Looking at your website for the first time in ages - I was wondering if I could win all the chocolate please?!

Wednesday, December 14

Hey hope you are doing ok. Im sitting in my flat on this extensive week of relaxing. well perhaps.

monday was a day of fantastic fourness
1. Saw Colin and we did lunch
2. talked to a great friend
3. erm got a new years gig
4. actually watched fantastic four. see my movies for what i thought.

tuesday i wrote christmas cards. well this may sound boring! but i had fun as the excitment of writing these had nearly past. you see id bought them over a month a go and matt turner wouldnt let me write them.. then i fogot.. then i remembered and hence ive writern them. Now if you read this blog and you think hey simons NOT going to send me a christmas card and you would like one. LET ME KNOW.. I've writern to people I've not seen in 8 years (ie my family) and to foreign countries like Canada. so please dont miss out!!

Then (as if writing cards wasnt enough)i saw catherine and we chatted and ate food. tis good to see her before she goes off to a land i cant mention.. but if you wanna support her then please get in contact.

And Then (again wow theirs more) i saw my lovely children who after some iniatial i cant find my brownie uniform we headed to my house. Watched another viewing of my blockbuster rental "fantastic four" and the kids loved it. Was it a PG at the cinema? i did think it was a 12? cooked a spag bol (bex loves it and im really
trying their at the moment)

AND AND THEN (indeed) attended the first christingle (and last) service this year. kinda realised that the kids havent been to church all year (ok about 99%) and this was the first and perhaps only time. short (was nice), weird choice of hymns/carols and no talk (me thinks a missed op)

wednesday well today i'm seeing ali and then going out for a drink.

BUT this morning as played on radio 1. ITS THE ebay song

its really funny...

morning (or when ever you read this). crediton never happened.

i was having such a great time in Torquay (ok i never looked at my watch) and i missed the last direct bus to exeter (well it is 7pm how rubbish is that!). but i got the chance to see Andy King who works for linx in torbay and katy who works for a church in Torbay.

then a late bus. but amazingly (im sure it was God) i missed a 12 bus. but the bus behind was driven by my friend Dave who've ive not seen or like months. He invited me to go out next wednesday night with him and asked me to do a disco for his wedding next summer!! whoo hoo.

im now completing sudoko puzzles much quicker (well the medium ones) so ready to take on chris my housemate! lol.

today i need to get a christmas tree for a sketch im doing tonight in the budleigh baptist outreach service. and also wrap up some boxes etc..

oh and finally found a mary and joseph. ok so they are 65 and 68 but its the thought that counts. actually could this be the eldest mary and joseph ever?

Thursday, December 8

and passing through...

ok im in my house for 15 min before i head off again. SO tuesday night i picked up the kids and took them (except beth) to my house for home made lassagne (boy its getting better) and chips. i felt complete crap though all they did was argue and not want to be at my flat. cause they were bored. gr8 how to make someone feel even better than they do about the situation. still things got better with Indiana Jones (are we sure it should only be a pg!). Home and then i stayed until i had to go home.

wednesday up and about as i needed to get on with some stuff for mnetyouth and then got a call from weycroft hall. whom i am doing there website as well. the new one will be up by next fri ok. (www.task-centre.org.uk). so i go over and visit and work on the site. they bless me with some money (thanks alot god!) then i visit Irve. A great evening and boy has his and nickys kids grown. i then realised it had been a whole year since i last went to the house. i guess leaving ice and not being involved with swym etc.

and onto today. caught another bus from lyme to newton poppleford then a bus to exmouth. hurrah for stagecoach. and arrived home to get changed and go out again. today im off to torquay then exeter then credition to see Colin and Mel and drink even more wine. nice.

hope you are all ok.

holiday blog day 2

well what a monday. the morning sorting out www.mnetyouth.org.uk then a visit to David Haxal who is the Baptist Minister at Budliegh Salterton. This was great and really encouraging. The church has really looked after me over the last 5 months and i really feel at home there.

Then the afternoon i headed on down to Plymouth to see Tiff and Suzy. Well after i had one of those photo booth photos for my new bus pass. hmm might even stick this online and you can vote on how bad it was !!!!

Traveling is great. I love having the time to read or listen to music as you really can't do anything else.

Suzy had cooked a fantastic roast and then after seeing Carol Thatcher crowned Queen of the jungle (and hey i hear she is going to write a book giving her a nice 5 figure sum!!). talk a bit and then went to bed on my old bed!! yar work that one out!

The morning came and after Tiff had set the alarm off i awoke and came back to exeter. Kwick Fit finally fitted my part and gave me £50 off (I shall leave you to guess how much it would have cost!).

Arriving home write blog, update the advent calendar, eat lunch then pick up kids from school.

YEah Im enjoying the holiday so far..
